Burst pipe? Stop the water.
Active burst or flooding? Use a known isolation valve only if it is safely accessible, keep clear of electrical hazards, then send photos and your postcode. We will confirm the next available slot and identify any required PUB Licensed Plumber.
Four safety-first steps.
Act only from a dry, safe position. Do not force valves or approach wet electrical equipment.
Use the labelled main or local valve only if you can reach it without entering water or approaching exposed electrical parts. Locations vary by property.
Turn the known valve in its closing direction without using extra leverage. Stop if it is seized, damaged or you are unsure which valve it is.
Do not approach a wet switchboard, socket or water heater. Isolate power only from a dry, safely accessible point; otherwise leave the area and call the relevant emergency service.
From a dry, safe position, use a container or towels and take photos for diagnosis. Do not enter standing water near electrical fittings.
Why pipes burst in Singapore.
A recent drilling or renovation point near the leak is useful diagnostic context, but the pipe route and actual failure still need to be confirmed.
Push-fit or compression joints that worked loose over years, or a poorly-soldered copper joint giving up under pressure. Often around the water heater, washing machine inlet, or kitchen sink corner.
Pressure changes, movement and unsuitable support can contribute to noise or fitting stress. The cause should be diagnosed before an arrestor or other preventive device is proposed.
Corrosion, unsuitable fittings, poor support, impact or previous workmanship may contribute. Diagnosis should identify the observed failure rather than infer a cause from age alone.
