Ceiling fan installation cost in Singapore: what changes the quote?
A $90 replacement and a new fan point are different jobs. This guide breaks the quote into mounting, fixed wiring, controls, access and testing so you can compare like with like.
A ceiling-fan quote only makes sense when you know what is already above the ceiling. Replacing a working fan at a sound existing point is not the same job as creating a new point, correcting an unsuitable mount or routing fixed wiring through a finished room.
SparkFlow's ceiling-fan guide prices, reviewed on 31 July 2026, start at $90 for a replacement at an existing suitable point. The table below shows the other common service lines. These are guide prices, not regulated rates. The written quote should state whether the fan itself, parts, wiring, access equipment and disposal are included.
SparkFlow ceiling-fan guide prices
| Service | Guide price | Scope to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Replace existing fan | From $90 | Suitable existing mount and wiring; removal and disposal terms |
| Standard new installation | $120 | Mounting point, fan type and whether fixed wiring already exists |
| DC/inverter fan installation | $150 | Receiver, controller, pairing and model-specific connections |
| Fan with LED installation | $180 | Driver, light controls, switching arrangement and function test |
| Repair | $80 | Diagnostic scope, labour and whether replacement parts are extra |
| Cleaning | $60 | Safe access, external cleaning scope and condition check |
“Standard new installation” does not mean every new location costs exactly $120. It is the base service line for a straightforward, suitable location. If a new electrical point, concealed cabling, ceiling reinforcement, unusually high access or remedial work is needed, those items should be assessed and priced before installation.
Replacement at an existing point: what $90 assumes
The lowest-complexity job is usually taking down an existing fan and fitting a compatible replacement at the same location. Even then, the installer should not assume everything hidden by the canopy is safe. The support, hook or bracket, fasteners, supply conductors, earthing, switch or controller arrangement and ceiling surface need a visual and functional check against the new manufacturer's instructions.
The replacement price can change if the old mount is loose or unsuitable, conductors are damaged or too short, the ceiling is cracked, the new canopy does not cover the old opening, or the previous fan used a different controller. Removal of bulky equipment and disposal should also be written into the quote rather than assumed.
A ceiling light point is not automatically a fan point. A fan creates a rotating, cyclic load, and its prescribed mounting method matters. Do not let anyone hang a fan from a light fitting support simply because the wires are already there.
What changes a new-installation quote
Ceiling construction and mounting
Concrete, a properly designed fan support, and different suspended or false-ceiling systems require different approaches. The visible board of a false ceiling is not necessarily a structural support. The fan must be secured using the mounting system and clearances required by its instructions, with any necessary support planned for the actual ceiling construction.
Send photos of the whole ceiling and the existing point before booking, but expect final confirmation on site. A photograph cannot prove the concealed support, fastener condition or wiring path.
Existing wiring versus a genuinely new point
If suitable fixed wiring and switching already reach the location, the scope can remain focused on the fan. A genuinely new point may require cable routing, containment, access above a ceiling, wall or ceiling making-good, circuit checks and labelling. Concealed routing in a completed home generally costs more than a short, accessible surface route because the labour and finishing are different.
EMA says electrical work must be undertaken or carried out by a Licensed Electrical Worker. Itselectrician-licence guidance explains the LEW classes. Ask who is responsible for any new or modified fixed wiring and verify that individual's EMA licence; a company trade classification is not a substitute for an LEW licence.
Fan controls, receivers and lights
AC-motor fans may use a manufacturer-approved wall controller. Many DC fans use an electronic receiver and remote, while smart models may add pairing steps. A fan with an integrated LED can include a separate driver, colour-temperature settings or combined remote logic. The installer has to follow the supplied diagram, house the electronics as designed and test every intended function.
Do not replace a regulator, dimmer or switch as a trial-and-error fix. An incompatible controller can cause poor operation, noise or damage. The model number and manual are more useful for quoting than the broad label “DC fan”. OurKDK, Fanco and Crestar comparison covers product-level differences to check before selecting a fan.
Height, furniture and safe access
A clear standard-height room is different from a high void, stairwell, loft, tightly furnished bedroom or built-in platform. Tall or obstructed locations can require different access equipment and a second person. Move fragile items only where it is safe to do so and tell the installer about unusually high ceilings before the visit.
Blade sweep and surrounding clearance
The selected fan must suit the room and installation height and have the manufacturer-required clearance from walls, cupboards, lights and other obstructions. A larger blade span is not automatically better if the room cannot accommodate it. Start with ourHDB ceiling-fan selection guide, then confirm the exact model instructions.
Safety Mark and the pre-install check
Ceiling fans are controlled goods in Singapore. Look for the SAFETY Mark on the product and verify it through the Consumer Product Safety Office'sSAFETY Mark guidance. Keep the model, serial information, invoice and warranty terms. Product approval does not replace correct mounting or wiring, so the installation still has to follow the supplied instructions.
A useful pre-install quote records:
- fan brand, exact model, blade span, weight and included controls;
- ceiling type, height and mounting-point condition;
- whether suitable fixed wiring and switching already exist;
- who supplies the fan, bracket, receiver, driver and small parts;
- removal, disposal, access equipment and making-good;
- testing, workmanship coverage and approval for added work.
When the $80 repair or $60 clean makes sense
Repair can be reasonable when a diagnosis identifies a replaceable, approved component and the motor, blades and mounting remain serviceable. Ask whether the $80 line is diagnosis and labour only, which parts are available, and what happens if the fault cannot be reproduced. Cleaning at $60 is for safe external cleaning and a condition check; it is not a substitute for opening electronics or correcting a loose mount.
The Consumer Product Safety Office says to stop using a ceiling fan that wobbles or makes loud noises and to arrange checks. Itsceiling-fan safety advice also recommends periodic inspection. Do not straighten a warped blade, tighten a concealed live connection or continue running the fan “to see if it settles”; follow ourwobble and noise guide and keep it off until checked.
How to get a quote that survives the site visit
Send SparkFlow the exact fan model, ceiling height, wide and close photos of the location, a photo of the current fan or point, and whether the light and fan need separate controls. Mention false ceilings, platforms, cupboards and access restrictions. We can then state the likely line item and flag what must still be verified on site.
Book through our ceiling-fan serviceand compare the final written scope, not just the headline price. A clear quote separates product supply, mounting, fixed wiring, controls, access, repair parts and disposal—the pieces that actually determine what you pay.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does ceiling fan installation cost in Singapore?
- SparkFlow's guide prices reviewed on 31 July 2026 start at $90 to replace a fan at an existing suitable point. A standard new installation is $120, a DC/inverter model $150 and a fan with LED $180. Fan supply, new wiring, access work and repairs depend on the written scope.
- Why can a DC or fan-with-light installation cost more?
- The installer may need to mount and connect a receiver, driver or LED module, follow a model-specific wiring diagram, pair a remote and test separate fan and light functions. Complexity varies by model. The higher service line is about the installation scope, not a claim that every DC fan is harder.
- Can a new ceiling fan reuse the old mounting point?
- Only after the point, support, hook or bracket, fasteners, ceiling condition and new fan's instructions have been checked. A light fitting point is not automatically suitable for a moving fan load. Do not reuse a questionable mount merely to preserve the $90 replacement price; quote any correction separately.
- Do I need an EMA Licensed Electrical Worker for ceiling fan wiring?
- Fixed electrical installation work must be undertaken or carried out by an appropriately licensed EMA Licensed Electrical Worker. A fan installer may work under the responsible LEW arrangement where applicable, but ask who is responsible for new or modified fixed wiring and verify that person's EMA licence.
- When should I repair rather than replace a ceiling fan?
- A $80 diagnostic or repair visit can make sense for a replaceable control, receiver or approved part when the mount and fan remain sound. Stop using a fan that wobbles or becomes loudly abnormal. Cracked or warped blades, damaged mounting, recurring faults or unavailable matched parts can make replacement safer and clearer.
